THe CHurch of the Resurrection
Welcome to Resurrection!
The Church of the Resurrection is
located in a setting that is picturesque and
typical of the natural beauty found in East
Tennessee. We are located on six acres
of wooded land just off Highway 11
between Lenoir City and Loudon.

The congregation of the church is an
enthusiastic and energetic group of
people with the Holy Eucharist central to
the parish's spirituality. In addition to our
worship, we place great value on our
outreach programs within the church
family and throughout the community.

We'd love to have you come as you are
to our friendly little church in the woods!

Pentecost Pig Roast

Just a reminder to all that there is no need to sign up for the pig roast, but please
remember to bring a covered dish for all to share.
Pentecost Pig Roast is almost here!  Sunday May 11 following joint (10:30 a.m.) Eucharist.  Wear red and look
forward to balloons, dove kite, “Birthday of the Church” cake, and bubbles for the little ones to chase outdoors.
Second Saturday Supper in May

Mark Saturday May 17 (third Saturday) on your calendar--the weekend after
Mother’s Day, the weekend after the Spring Pig Roast.  We’re going to Grace Point!
Yes, the Grace Point Gang invites you to share day of fun, adventure, and good eats at
the Retreat Center and natural wonderland of the Diocese.  Bring the family and kids.
Explore a trail, watch a potato gun demonstration, ride a pontoon boat, or just “rock’n
vegetate” on the Commons Porch.  Rain will not be a problem—
the Commons is large enough for everyone.

Master “Smokin Chef” David Twiggs will provide the main course—smoked ribs! We
need volunteers to provide salads, veggies, bread, dessert, and finger food. This is a
family event, so we will forego wine and other alcoholic beverages.  If you would like
to join the cooking/host team, call Cal or Diane Van Koughnett at 458-6000.

This is a great time to catch Grace Point when it’s cool and the flowers are in bloom.
Herons, ospreys, and turkeys are usually on site—and possibly an eagle. The walking
trails are well marked, and take you across most of the 280 acres of woodlands.
Pontoon boats will tour the osprey nests and lake shore.  There are canoes for
personal paddling.  The Retreat House and Tree
House cabins will be open for viewing.

Let us know if you would like a ride to the event.  Grace Point is just 25 miles from
Resurrection, near the Midway community in Roane County.

Grace Point Service Projects

Need an excuse to get out of the house and breathe some fresh air?  Grace Point is
always in need and accommodating to people with service projects.  Any of these
spring projects will allow Resurrection to use the facilities for free on 17 May.

Clearing of the trails:  Each spring we need to walk the trails with chain saws and
helpers to remove trees and limbs that have fallen across the trails.  Including travel
time, plan on spending 5 hours.  Mechanical and woodsman proficiency
are not a requirement.

Pool table to the Commons Building:  Ginny and Wayne Tolbert have a pool table to
be moved to Grace Point.  Four stout volunteers are needed (fortunately it is not slate
bedded) to move it by trailer from their basement (outside lower level entry)
to the upstairs of the Commons Building.

Sprucing up the Art Barn:  Katie Twiggs is the summer camp art director this year.
She needs financial donations and helping hands to purchase paint
and brighten up the Art Barn.

Trail benches:  We need to build and install four treated lumber benches along the
trails.  These will be identical to the benches on the playground at Resurrection.
After assembly, these benches will be moved by truck to the
trail location and “planted” there.

Contact Cal Van Koughnett (458-6000) for more information.
